ADULT 3 SUNDAY SCHOOL - FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH - Ocala, FL

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Please let everyone know that John Hudson was in a bad accident yesterday. He was severely injured when his horse rolled on him. The saddle horn stabbed into his chest. He was taken to Shands where they did exploratory surgery to check for internal injuries. Please keep him, as well as Heather, in your prayers.

UPDATE ON THE LORENZ FAMILY

Thank you for your prayers for wisdom about the FL/AK residency issue facing us. The Lord, once again, showed us we were dawdling in following His clear leading, so He forced our hand. The mail last night brought information that the state of FL wanted us to garage our vehicle if we still had FL plates on it since we now had AK insurance!! Needless to say, this morning we promptly registered the van in AK and got new plates, registration, and a newly issued title from the state of AK. We were surprised at the cost, lower than what we'd anticipated, and much much lower than if we were bringing a vehicle into FL from another state. Plus, tags up here are for two years. Just another instance of the Lord pointing us in the right direction, but "we" wanted time to think, look at all sides, pray, think some more, and just really procrastinate ("Is this REALLY what you want Lord?). Wonder if Peter procrastinated when he got out of the boat to walk on the water? Doubt it. This is two instances in the past month of us wanting to absolutely make sure we were doing the right thing, when we'd heard from the Lord, but were just too "chicken" to really get out of the boat and do it. Our faith is still in need of growing and trusting. Pray that we will act upon what we know the Lord is leading us to do in the future without all the hem-hawing, foot-dragging, and second guessing. George, Pamela, and Elizabeth will all get AK driver's licenses next week. Elizabeth will take her test for a learner's permit, and we will have to take the same written test to change from FL to AK license. We will also have to change voter's registration at the same time. At least it will be within the time frame to be able to vote in the November election!

From what we can determine about the status of the house in FL, we will just loose homestead exemption. We will begin paying property taxes on that extra $25K next year but if we try to put the house in our daughter's name, she would be taxed at a much higher rate on based on new appraisal ratings. So we will just leave things alone, and leave it all in the Lord's hands. Safest and best place to be anyway :)

Thanks again for your prayers. Keep them up please, as Pamela now needs to have the tooth that the dentist in Canada tried to save, extracted. The pain and discomfort is back with a vengence. Pray that we can find the right dentist and that it will only cost a "tooth" and not "an arm and a leg" :) James is doing well with his dental work and we'll find out at the end of October whether they will cut into the gum to attach to a tooth to align it better.

Summer is offically over, leaves are yellow and falling, and the temps are barely reaching 60F. Lows are in the mid 40's. No signs of frost or snows in the mountain tops yet, though. Children are excited that they will experience watching the lake freeze over. Hannah is sharpening her ice skates in anticipation, but we hate to break it to her that the ice won't be thick enough until sometime in December.

In the Lord's service, for His glory Wherever He leads,

George and Pamela Lorenz

UPDATE ON DAVE HUDSON

Here's the latest on Dave:

Dave finally got an ultrasound Thursday late afternoon. He had to use Argo connections to get that. He has three blood clots in his left leg. Anyway, he went to the hospital Friday afternoon after finding out he couldn't get in to see a specialist for two weeks. They have started treating him with coumadin. He gets injections at the hospital for the next five days. He'll be on coumadin for 6 months - no strenuous exercise for a month. His condition will need to be monitored closely the next few months. If he gets another clot, he may be on coumadin the rest of his life. Dave's comment on the whole situation is that it's tough getting old.

We found out that there is a 90 day grace period for our Ontario Health Insurance since we are getting an extension. We can be reimbursed for these medical expenses when we're able to renew our health card.

Thank you for your prayers. They made all the difference. Please pray that our visa extension arrives soon so that we can resolve some of these issues. Thanks again for your support. We love and appreciate you.

Blessings,

Ruth

We need to set up some deal for the Cothron's while they deal with Susie's mom. Give Leesa a call at 361-7210 or e-mail her at leesa_rigby@hotmail.com if you can help.

Also, Dave Hudson may have a blood clot in his leg. He is on blood thinners from a doctor, but can not return to the doctor until they get their visa situation cleared up. (that's visa as in "right to be in the country", not VISA, like they owe $$ on a credit card...) Since blood clots can be serious, we need to pray for some resolution in both areas....quickly

The Preschool area really , really needs teachers and people to help with Worship Care and teachers in the first service. You do not have to do it every week, get cool snacks and playground time and men you do not have to do diaper duty- against church policy... so no excuses. You can call Heather Hudson at the church office 629-5683 ext.122

Notes for August 24, 2008

Congrats to Bill and Connie on their 35th wedding anniversary.

Also congrats to Jackie and Cleveland on their 32 anniversary.

for the preschool area. We are in great need of teachers and helpers as our classes are growing.
